Specialization on electrical wiring of buildings, machines and stationary is done by an electrician. The electrical wiring of buildings, machines and stationary require skills and knowledge by the electricians. In order to solve electrical related issues then electricians do electrical engineering as a course. To become an electrician there are two educational ways which are having the equivalent degree or having a high school diploma.
Some of the focus areas that looked into in high school diploma are fundamental, practical courses and physical science. Math fundamental requires one to be good in algebra while physical science requires one to have an understanding particularly in physics of electrical current and finally practical courses offer courses such as automotive mechanics, electronics wood shop to be fully complete as an electrician. Vocational programs and apprenticeship are followed after a high school diploma. Upon completion of an apprenticeship or vocational program an electrician applies for a license.
The process of acquiring a license requires of the following; proof of apprenticeship completion, test scores that demonstrate knowledge of NEC and state building codes, relevant fees and proof of having the required amount of experience in electrical trade. Depending on the area of specialization then the roles and responsibilities of an electrician are determined. Forming electrical circuits by connecting electrical wires to components and fixtures and testing completed circuit is one of the role of electrician.
The other role of an electrician is planning the electrical system for new buildings including the best position for electrical outlets, heating outlets, ventilation systems and light fixtures. Based on municipal codes then installation of wiring, lighting and control systems need to be in order for new and existing buildings as the other role of electricians. Reading and interpretation of architect blueprints, circuit diagrams and other technical documents is also done by an electrician.
Electricians specialize in certain areas such as wiring of ships, mobile platforms, data, cable and airplanes. Courses like electrical engineering can be specialized as it’s a broad course. The work load of electricians is quite high and thus need to be actually available at all times. By being present electricians are involved in climbing of ladders, lifting tools and supplies. Electricians when carrying out their daily work activities use various positions such as kneeling, squatting and bending.
When choosing an electrician there are some factors that are considered and they include; interpersonal skills, knowledge of safety codes, character traits, business ethics and intellectual ability. In terms of business understanding there are basics business skills that are required and they are time management, customer service and personal service, clerical abilities and working with a team or people management. Electricians are required to have interpersonal skills which are; observation skills and empathy, instruction, active listening and communication skills.
